About the Artist

John Geery was born in Stull, Kansas, U.S.A. in 1971. Working in various paint media, he relies heavily on inspirations drawn from unpopulated urban pop culture.

Notable elements of over-the-top garish fashion blend with chrome and steel of a bygone era. Vivid and unusual color combinations dominate remote, open space. Suspiciously conspicuous characters glare outward with calculated indifference.

John employs a non-conventional canvas preparation creating an other-worldly and unpredictable surface texture. A delicious cocktail of urethane, ethylene-vinyl acetate polymer, acrylic, isocyanates, and lacquer complete the quintessential glossy appearance. Other notable media include traditional Japanese watercolor, lead and colored pencil drawings, silkscreen prints and other truck.

Geery studied at the University of Kansas where he earned a BFA in painting. His works have been featured nationwide.
